About the exhibition
Abba Kovner: 1918-1987
Abba Kovner – a poet, writer and artist. a member of the underground resistance in the Vilnius Ghetto, partisan, charismatic leader, kibbutz member and Hashomer Hatzair member. He was the first to realize that Hitler is planning to completely murder the Jewish people and called for rebellion, and he was one of the founders of Moreshet. In Abba Kovner Center he’s and his wife’s ,Vitka Kempner-Kovner, living room and study room are on display. the exhibition in the center displays Abba Kovner’s life through paintings ,texts and videos. in addition, the exhibition displays his work and deeds as an inspiring poet and intellectual. Also, the exhibition shows the story of his wife, Vitka Kempner-Kovner, who was a partisan fighter in the Vilnius ghetto and Rudniki forest.
